BURSARY SCHEME A (DEPENDANTS OF NON IMESA MEMBERS)
1. OBJECTIVE OF THE BURSARY SCHEME
The aim of the Institute of Municipal Engineering of Southern Africa’s (IMESA) Bursary Scheme is:-
- To offer financial assistance to students who would otherwise not have been able to afford to study in the field of Civil Engineering or any other discipline of engineering as approved by the Executive Council of IMESA.
- To provide for the TUITION FEES and BOOKS of the student.
2. THE ALLOCATION OF BURSARIES
Bursaries will be granted at the discretion of the Executive Committee of IMESA to:-
- Students who are studying Civil Engineering or any other disciplines (see 1(i) above) full time at any accredited tertiary educational institution in South Africa;
BURSARY SCHEME B (DEPENDANTS OF IMESA MEMBERS ONLY)
1. OBJECTIVE OF THE BURSARY SCHEME
The aim of the Institute of Municipal Engineering of Southern Africa’s (IMESA) Bursary Scheme is:- Dependants
- To recognise the achievements of students and prospective students who are children of members belonging to IMESA (i.e. members with a membership period of three (3) years or longer).
- To provide for the TUITION FEES and BOOKS of the student
2. THE ALLOCATION OF BURSARIES
Bursaries will be granted at the discretion of the Executive Committee of IMESA to:-
- Students who are studying Civil Engineering or any other disciplines full time at any accredited tertiary educational institution in South Africa;
HOW TO APPLY FOR IMESA ENGINEERING BURSARY
- The Bursary terms may be revised on an annual basis by the Executive Committee of IMESA;
- The relevant bursary amount shall be paid within 60 days of receipt of statement from the tertiary institution or as otherwise agreed upon between the student and the authorized representative of IMESA as delegated by The Executive Committee
- The first instalment shall only be paid once the student has furnished the following to the IMESA Head Office:
- An acceptable medical certificate.
- Proof of enrolment for the specific course.
- Bursary applications must be received by IMESA before 15 September the year proceeding the intended year of study

- Alternatively, kindly download forms below:
- Incomplete or late application forms, as well as application forms that are not accompanied by the required substantiating documentation, will not be considered and will be disqualified.
- Bursaries awarded by other Institutions must be declared and will be taken into consideration, prior to the awarding of the IMESA Bursary.
- All application forms should be accompanied by an undersigned statement from the School / University of Technology, declaring the student’s academic progress in his/her Matric or first year studies at a recognized Educational Institution.
- IMESA will not be responsible for the employment of any student after the completion of his/her studies but will request the student to take up a career in Local Government if possible.
- All bursary applications must be accompanied by an affidavit declaring their parents’ monthly income, as well as the student’s financial situation.
- No bursary will be allocated retrospectively.
- No bursary will be allocated for practical training.
CLOSING DATE FOR APPLICATIONS
The bursary is open throughout the year; however, applicants are encouraged to send their 2022 Academic Year applications on or before the following dates:
